African Safari - Botswana Explorer Expedition

Days 1 & 2: Maun, Okavango Delta
Transfer by light aircraft from Maun into the heart of the Okavango Delta. Surrounded by the sands of the Kalahari Desert is the magical oasis of Botswanas Okavango Delta, formed by the ancient seismic shifting of the earths surface. Water in the desert is a spectacular sight - the crystal-clear channels, spreading like an outstretched hand over the thirstlands of the Kalahari. Wide grassy floodplains are home to a magnificent array of wild animals. Explore the unique channels, islands and waterways by mekoro (dug-out canoe), and enjoy game-viewing walks on the islands. Spend two overnights at our campsite in a private concession area with a complement of camp staff to cater for you.

Days 3 & 4: Moremi Wildlife Reserve
Continue by light aircraft to Khwai - North Gate region of Moremi Wildlife Reserve. Set-aside in 1963 by the Batawana tribe, the Reserve is rated as Africa's most beautiful wildlife sanctuary. Spend your days on extensive and interpretive game-drives, and two overnights camping in the Reserve.
Moremi is the most diverse park in Botswana and it is the only proclaimed wildlife reserve in the Okavango Delta. Moremi covers almost a third of the entire Okavango Delta, comprising a diverse habitat where the desert and delta meet, of forests, lagoons, floodplains, pans and woodlands. The Game Reserve supports the most diverse animal populations in Botswana. Resident species include wild dog, cheetah, leopard, lion, elephant, buffalo, hippo, giraffe, hyena, zebra, kudu, lechwe, sable and roan antelope.

Days 5, 6, 7 & 8: Chobe National Park
Travel to Savute (5 - 6 hours overland game drive) - excellent for lion and other predator viewing - where you will spend two overnights camping next to the dry Savute Channel. Depending on the time of the year, huge animal concentrations are attracted to this area. From Savute, move up to northern Chobe (4 - 5 hours overland game drive) where you will camp for two nights in the Serondela area of the National Park. This is the heart of elephant country and you may spend many hours watching the huge herds in and around the waters of the Chobe River on game drives or private boat cruise. Northern Chobe is renowned for its large variety of bird and animal life, beautiful scenery and magnificent sunsets.

Day 9: Victoria Falls
It is a short drive from Chobe National Park to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe where you will welcome the chance to wash off Botswana's dust, relax over a cold beer, and enjoy the varied entertainment and facilities at Matetsi Water Lodge after a tour of the Falls (entrance fee to the Falls is included in the safari fare). Overnight accommodation is at Matetsi Water Lodge in twin-bedded rooms with private facilities on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis, refreshments on game drives, scheduled activities and laundry is included.

Day 10: Safari Terminates
After breakfast at the lodge, your African Botswana Safari terminates.
