Is Quixtar/Amway Global a viable business option for the home-based business entrepreneur?
Recently, I had the opportunity to interview various Independent Business Owners with Quixtar/Amway Global. They were all a part of a marketing organization called World Wide Dream Builders. I know many of the people I interviewed personally and put a lot of their thoughts into my analysis of this business opportunity.
Amway invented multi-level marketing. They are the number one legal multi-level business in the world. I can speak from experience when I say that their products are of very high quality and I use many of them. For many, getting the discounts on the products that can replace many of the products they purchase at other stores is worth having an IBO. It is very inexpensive to become an IBO with Quixtar (approx $50).
How are you paid?
You should go to Quixtar/Amway Global website and review their compensation plan, as it is relatively complex with multiple levels. The bottom line is, you are paid on your retail profit (the difference between your wholesale price and the price your customer paid for the product) and volume bonuses on your total business volume for you and your entire down line. Monthly product volume is the key to this business. It's really quite simple, the more volume you and your team sell, the more money you make.
Can you make money with this business?
Absolutely! In my short tenure as an IBO, I have met many who make rather decent incomes. For instance, one couple I know personally have made between $70,000 and $100,000 per year for the last 10 years. They are both practicing physicians and still work their Quixtar/Amway Global business part time. Dr. V (as I will call him here) informs me that it took him about 12 months of working hard (but still part time) to get to the Platinum level, which is the first major milestone within the Quixtar business.
All that being said, you will not be able to make money as a Quixtar IBO simply by selling product. If you do not have a rather sizable down line producing volume for you every month, it becomes challenging to recoup your marketing costs. My marketing group teaches duplication, which basically means, sign up an IBO who switches most of their household purchasing needs to their business and who find other IBO's who do the same. Doing this requires getting people to come to meetings, seminars, phone calls, and then getting them to bring people to meetings, seminars and phone calls. You don't necessarily need to be good at presenting the business plan yourself, but at a minimum you have to be good at getting people to see the business plan by one of your up line. Your follow up skills must be very good, as most people who agree to come will end up forgetting about it unless you go get them or call them and remind them.
What should I consider before I jump in?
Consider your up line. What have they done? What do they know? With Quixtar, most of your training comes from your up line. If you are serious about growing this business, make sure they are serious about growing this business. Ask them about their up line mentors and if you can have access to them as well. Is their up line Platinum still working towards growing their business? Research the marketing company they are using. There are various marketing groups who a designed to help Quixtar IBO's grow their business. Some are extremely reputable and others aren't so much. As long as you haven't signed up as an IBO, you are not required to sign up with the person who first presented the opportunity to you. Your success in this business is going to rely heavily on your ability to do what is necessary, but support from your up line is going to be extremely important if you are to succeed. So far, from what I can tell through my interviews, World Wide Dream Builders is a pretty good one.
Review
To sum it up, if short term ROI is your primary goal, Quixtar/Amway Global is probably not for you. It will probably take a good year before you have a chance to see real money coming in the door. However, if you are looking more long term, big picture of building a business for the long haul, this is probably the only real multi-level option out there. Amway has perfected this business and is one of the largest privately held companies in the US. They have no debt and they are not going anywhere anytime soon. So, unlike other organizations that could easily be gone tomorrow or who participate in less than on the level marketing practices, Quixtar/Amway Global is extremely reputable and they sell products that everyone in the world use. However, you CANNOT duplicate this business from your home in front of your computer. You must be out talking with people every day. You will face an incredible amount of rejection and have a whole lot of time wasted by people who aren't really serious at finding a business opportunity. If anyone tells you differently, they are flat out not telling you the truth! I plan to continue my endeavors with Quixtar, and if you are interested we should definitely talk. However, what I was really looking for from a home based business was an system I could duplicate at home without all of the hassle of trying to track people down all of the time.
