If you have fallen in love with teak, you may like everything about the wood and the furniture that is made out of it, except the price.

Unfortunately the beauty and durability of teak is a very expensive thing to own. But that doesn't mean you have to give up on your hopes to have it. If you know where to look and how to look, you may well be able to have beautiful teak chairs in your home at a fraction of the cost that you would expect to pay for them.

Antique Stores - Every town has a number of antique stores in it. Get to know the ones in your area. You would be amazed what comes in and goes out of antique stores. Often you will be able to find teak chairs in these stores that are beautifully carved pieces of art. While stores will often have a set price, if you are a good barterer, you may be able to bring it down. You also may want to get to know the owner of your local antique store a little better. The more you talk to the owner, the better chance they will be willing to give you a deal on the price and let you know when they get great teak furniture in so you can get first dibs.

Auctions - Not all antiques and beautiful furniture pieces make it into antique and furniture stores. There are plenty of pieces that for one reason or another end up on the auction block. If you do your research into furniture and antique auctions in your area you just may luck out and be able to buy teak chairs for a fraction of what they are worth. Often there are sites where regular auctions are held either weekly, biweekly or monthly. Find out where they are and try to get on their notification lists. Often they will send out a list of the items that are going up for auction so you will know if there are teak chairs and not waste your time going to an auction where you won't find what you want.

Estate Sales - Those who have great taste in furniture often have teak chairs as a part of that collection. But once they die, their families may not have the same great taste as they do and may decide to liquidate those beautiful assets. While this is sad in one instance, this can give you a chance to take a beautiful piece of furniture home to appreciate for years to come.

Store Sales - With the down economic times we are experiencing, there are plenty of stores that are selling off their inventory at low prices just to pay the bills or those that are closing altogether and liquidating their inventory. Either case is a great opportunity for you to save a bundle on teak furniture. Just keep your eyes open as you are driving around. More often than not you will see someone holding a sign pointing you right to the sale.
